Emergency Checklist - Fire

Reported to the Company

Oops...! some problem!

Call the Master

Sound the Fire/ General Alarm

Locate the fire - and advise as many people as possible (eg. via radio, PA System)

Shut fans, dampers, skylights, fire doors, other openings, stairways etc.

Fire-Fighting Teams to muster at a Staging Point and prepare to respond

In port - call the fire service.

Prepare LSA Life-Saving Equipment

Consider a Distress Call

Inform shipping in the vicinity

Inform VTS or traffic control

Manouvre the vessel to best support fire-fighting activities

Account for all people onboard

Determine best approach to responding to the Fire.

If CO2 is used to fight the fire:

Identify the area where CO2 will be released

Check that all vents are sealed

Carry out a headcount, ensure nobody is in the affected area

Once released into the space, continue boundary cooling and monitoring temperatures - but do not open the space

Inform the Company

Prepare medical response and equipment

Take steps to seal off affected areas

Consider what boundary cooling is required

Consider if external assistance is required

Keep records of all actions taken.

Keep the Company closely informed.

Continue boundary cooling and keep affected sealed until area is well cooled

Monitor temperatures on an ongoing basis
